Excimer Laser and Nanoneedle Films
Office of Resource Commercialization, NC State University
Spring 2024
Narayan et al. created a novel excimer laser to allow for unique film production using holey graphene and molybdenum disulfide which utilizes a smaller wavelength than traditional CO2 lasers. This allows for higher spatial and temporal control, laser energy and pulse modulation, and greater specificity in defect sizes of the membranes for various environmental, energy production/storage, and biosensor applications. As a team, we:
-
Provided market insights for the uses of the excimer laser in nanofilm production and applications
-
Determined the competitive landscape and similar product manufacturers in the field
-
Developed potential partnership opportunities and recommendations for the laser within nanofilm creation.
